Admin History | Professor Henry Norman Rydon (1912-1991), was born in Hackney, London. He was educated at the Central Foundation School for Boys in East London, and studied chemistry at the Royal College of Science, London, receiving his BSc in 1931, his PhD in 1933, and his DSc in 1938. He received his DPhil from Oriel College, Oxford in 1939, and an MSc from Manchester University in 1956. He worked at various London academic institutes until 1952 when he became Professor of Chemistry at the University of Manchester. From 1957 he held the post of Professor of Chemistry at Exeter University until his retirement in 1977. After this date he was made Emeritus Professor until his death in 1991. His publications include: 'Amino Acids, Peptides, and Related Compounds', 1976, and 'Peptide synthesis', 1962. |
