TitleMoroccan notes
DescriptionSet of four small boxes containing scores of typed notes on the history of Morocco, chiefly summarised extracts from books that Bidwell had read, with occasional references to archival material as well as his own chronologies, such as a three-page timeline of the reign of Hassan II. There are 35 pages of notes drawn from what appears to be Foreign Office archives ('No. 9040 Morocco Part XXXIII') containing summaries of correspondence between Sir Gerard Lowther, Sir Edward Grey, Sir J.M. Macleod and Reginald Lister between 1907 and 1909 from the Foreign Office Confidential Print (FOCP) series, as well as summaries of annual reports from Sir Reginald Lister and other papers on Morocco (1908-10), plus numerous books in both English and French from the 19th and 20th centuries, and a typescript by Bidwell on 'Two Proconsuls - Cromer and Lyautey' which seems to be another version of that in EUL MS 377/1/19. There are a few sheets of handwritten notes amongst these papers. Two of the boxes contain A-Z arrangements, other are loose with no clear order.
