| Description | Four early 19th-century manuscript transcripts of letters. They are entitled:
- 'A Copy of a Letter addressed by the Lady Abbess of the English Nunnery in Lisbon to the Rev Thomas Hurst respecting the late Sister Agnes Carter a Lay-Sister of the said Nunnery' (letter dated 1824);
- 'Extract of a letter addressed to a Nun in her noviceship', beginning 'Lisbon. 1827. Dear Sister Mary Magdalen...';
- ''Extract of a Letter written to a Nun. Oct-1835' (in a notebook accompanied by a 'birthday list' and a biography of Winifred Hill');
- and 'Extract of a letter addressed to a Nun December 1836'. |
