DescriptionThis series comprises correspondence and assorted papers relating to the community's own enquiries concerning their history. It includes:

- correspondence from ?Fr. Austin to Dom Adam [Hamilton] concerning transcripts of Syon obit books, accompanied by the transcripts (1907);

- correspondence from Monastere des Benedictins at Kain-la-Tombe, Belgium, to the Lady Abbess, concerning Termonde [Dendermonde] and Lille manuscripts (1913);

- correspondence from Clare Kirchberger (1930);

- correspondence from J.J. Dale of Baddesley Clinton, Blanche Moody and Abbess Mother Mary Teresa Jocelyn concerning Sister Elizabeth Ann Ricketts and the sisters who left Lisbon for England in 1809 (1924-1925);

- a file of enquiries relating to heraldry, the Syon Abbey seal, and the seal of the Bridgettine Order, dated 1973-2011 [post 1975 correspondence is closed];

- a file of assorted papers, presumably compiled by Sister Mary Dominic Redpath, including correspondence, notes, and transcripts of documents, all relating to the history of Syon Abbey and the Bridgettine Order (c 1950s);

- a file of correspondence from Ann Ilbert, Carl Magnus Stenbock, Monastero S. Brigida of Via delle Isole in Rome, and Mary Van Rosen, as well as letters from Syon Abbey to Margaret Howitt, all concerning St Bridget of Sweden (1921-1923).

- a folder containing a 'tracing of H. Mother's Statue'; a letter from Andrewas Lindblom, dated 1938, and a typescript copy of Lindblom's article 'The Bridgettine Ring'; typescript extracts from prayers; a manuscript letter from Canon John Rory Fletcher, dated 1942; manuscripts notes by Canon John Rory Fletcher concerning 'Thomas Fishborne First Confessor General of Syon'; one newspaper clipping concerning a visit by Professor A.E. Richarson to Pertenhall, dated 1934; and manuscript notes by Margaret Howitt entitled 'The name Birgitta or Bridget'.
