DescriptionFolder containing documents and memoranda relating to the early history of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), including letters and statements on the collapse of the Kurdish resistance movement in March 1975, a letter to Omar Sheikhmous invitating him to the founding meeting of PUK in west Berlin (May 1975), a document from March 1976 reporting on the first anniversary of the treaty between Iran and Iraq on the Kurds and the Pike papers, a draft proposal (unrealised) by Omar Sheikhmous for a Solidarity Committee to coordinate Kurdish resistance and preserve Kurdish culture (May 1975), a copy of the founding declaration of PUK in Jalal Talabani's handwriting (June 1975) and various subsequent statements and agreements including a small booklet on the internal status of the PUK (1976), a 1976 statement and a leaflet from the PUK in Lebanon, a Persian booklet on the PUK (1976) and a spiral bound folder entitled 'Revolution in Kurdistan. The Essential Documents of the PUK' (PUK Publications No.1, 1977) that contains English translations of nine important documents relating to the early history of the PUK between 1975 and 1976.
