| Admin History | Writer Elizabeth Myers (1912-1947) was born in Manchester 23 Dec 1912. Attending Notre Dame Convent High School before moving to London with her family. She gained a wide circle of friends in literary spheres, including the author Eleanor Farjeon and Arthur Waugh. She published three novels in her lifetime: A Well Full of Leaves (1943), The Basilisk of St. James's (1945), and Mrs. Christopher (1946), in addition to dozens of short stories and articles. Many of Myers short stories were aired on BBC radio in the 1940s and her first collection of Short Stories was published in 1942 (Lost in London and Other Short Stories). In 1943 Myers married the widowed Llewelyn Powys and settled with him in Sherborne, Dorset until her early death at the age of 34 in 1947. |
