Includes entries relating to time spent with friends and family; social engagements; travel to Ireland, including political and social engagements; meetings of the Garden Cities Association; meetings with parliamentary colleagues; a silhouette made of him by a lady at the Sale of Work in Luton; opening of Parliament by the King and Queen (14 Feb); suffragettes (04 March); proceedings in the House of Commons, including debating and voting on the Housing of the Working Classes Bill, the Minimum Wage Bill for Coal Miners, the Home Rule Bill, the Welsh Disestablishment Bill, and the Insurance Act; the sinking of the Titanic; a solar eclipse (17 April); the Daily Mail Ideal Home Exhibition; Emilie Harmsworth selling artificial flowers fro Alexandra Day; an interview with suffragists (17 Jul); a royal garden party at Windsor Castle and a State Ball at Buckingham Palace (18-19 Jul); travel to Newfoundland (16 Aug-11 Oct); meeting David Lloyd George at London Zoo (20 Oct); trips to Devon for an enquiry into fisheries, including descriptions of Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Brixham (11-28 November); and Christmas.
