7/1,2 Letter from John McDonald to E Morant Gale, dated 21 October 1844. The letter chiefly concerns the affairs of York and Gales Valley Estates. It indicates favourable crop conditions, and the expectation that 17 acres of land for the extraction of Guano will be acquired. It also includes an enclosing account (torn) for 1841-1843.
8 Letter from John McDonald to E Morant Gale, dated 20 March 1845. It contains favourable crop reports and production of sugar and rum. It also indicates that Guano is now being used by the estate. John McDonald also notes that his health has been improving.
9 Letter from John McDonald to Messrs Cottam, Morton and Company, dated 5 April 1845. It primarily consists of an explanation of expenditures on the estates belonging to E G M Gale. McDonald also notes that when he was made manager of the estates they were in poor condition. |
