1 Copy of account of rents, profits, produce and proceeds of Gale’s Valley Estate, property of Edward Gregory Morant Gale Esquire, from 01 January to the 31 December 1834. It includes an account of crop exports and sales, payments made and those yet to be paid, and an oath by overseer Joseph Bridge that the above information is a ‘just and true account’.

3 Document containing crop accounts for Gale’s Valley and York Estates, as well as a current account for E. G. M. Gale Esquire ‘in account current with William Carey and Joseph Bridge’, dated 1835.

4 Copy of crop account for Gale’s Valley Estate, dated 1837. It also includes an account of the ‘Increase and Decrease of Stock’ detailing the acquisitions and deaths of livestock on the estate between 1 January and 31 December 1837.

5 Document entitled ‘Land Sold on account of E G Morant Gale Esquire’, dated 1842. It includes accounts for E G Morant Gale ‘in account current with Joseph Bridge’ for ‘land sold’, and a list of people to whom land has been sold ‘at Beaumans Gully’ and ‘at York Estate’.

6 Copy (torn) of letter from Mr. Rose to Mr. McDonald, dated 17 September 1844. It chiefly concerns leases and rendering of accounts.

7/1,2 Letter from John McDonald to E Morant Gale, dated 21 October 1844. The letter chiefly concerns the affairs of York and Gale’s Valley Estates. It indicates favourable crop conditions, and the expectation that 17 acres of land for the extraction of Guano will be acquired. It also includes an enclosing account (torn) for 1841-1843.

8 Letter from John McDonald to E Morant Gale, dated 20 March 1845. It contains favourable crop reports and production of sugar and rum. It also indicates that Guano is now being used by the estate. John McDonald also notes that his health has been improving.

9 Letter from John McDonald to Messrs Cottam, Morton and Company, dated 5 April 1845. It primarily consists of an explanation of expenditures on the estates belonging to E G M Gale. McDonald also notes that when he was made manager of the estates they were in poor condition.
