| Description | Black notebook containing manuscript notes for the plots of 'Flight of the Falcon', 'The House on the Strand' and 'Le Remplaçant' [working title for 'The Scapegoat']. Signed 'Daphne du Maurier November 1955' on the flyleaf. The contents of the notebook are as follows:
- notes in pencil concerning 'Le Remplaçant' [following on from flyleaf, so presumably dating to 1955], including one page of notes on characters and setting; 59 pages of plot notes for Chapters 1 to 32; and seven pages of notes entitled 'Notes for clearing status of Jean';
- notes in blue pen concerning 'The House on the Strand' [not dated, but possibly written c 1967-1968], including four pages of notes on characters, and 87 pages of plot notes for Chapters 1 to 28;
- and notes in blue pen concerning 'Flight of the Falcon - Il Volo del Falcone', dated February 1964, including two pages of notes concerning historical dates, characters and setting; 34 pages of plot notes for Chapters 1 to 28 [three leaves detailing plot notes for Chapters 6 to 12 are loose from the binding but are in the correct order]; six pages of notes on weekdays [on which she worked on the story?] and edits; and two pages of text entitled 'additions for magazine'.
