TitleThe Adventures of Awful Knawful
Admin HistoryA play for children written by Mick Ford and Peter Flannery for the Royal Shakespeare Company. The story plays on the name of stunt rider Evel Knievel and was adapted, devised and directed for Kneehigh by Mike Shepherd with a central character of a failed stuntman who is trying to save the earth from the dreaded Spongg. The production was performed at a variety of locations including fields, quarries, schools, village halls, tents and preaching pits. Performed in the round with 2 Rostrum blocks and four exits, it involved amongst other things a giant mousetrap. The show was advertised using John Meglers demonstrations of extreme fitness and fearlessness with a series of stunts in harbours which often involved him being propelled powerfully from a bicycle.
