TitleDoubtful Island
Admin HistoryDoubtful Island grew out of Kneehigh's Shop of Stories project, which had been gathering and writing tales from different places in Cornwall for over a year. Titled 'A Cycle of Tales inspired by Redruth and other Cornish Towns' and later for the touring production of 1999 as 'A cycle of Tales Inspired by Cornish Towns and Villages/A cycle of tales inspired by Cornish Towns and places in between'. Sets were simple, relying on light projection and the story telling talents of the actors.

Characters include Mrs Joliff whose boat is moored in afield and who regales the rabbits with tales of sea adventures. Foghorn Leghorn who wishes to be a lighthouse keeper but was affraid of heights. The love tree of St Just which smouldered for days; and the mysterious washerwoman beached up at Penryn taught by the famous and fastidious Mme Blanchisseuse.

Writers include Mercedes Kemp.
