| Description | This section reflects Tom Cross' career as a writer and includes material for four of his published works: Painting the Warmth of the Sand, The Shining Sands, Catching the Wave, and Helford: A River and Some Landscapes, unpublished manuscript, Australian Artists in Europe. This material includes research, drafts, illustrations and correspondence. Tom Cross also wrote journal articles, as seen in this sub-section, completed research and wrote text for exhibitions. The largest series in this section, indeed in the whole Collection, is the Research Folders. These were compiled by Tom Cross throughout his lifetime on a variety of topics.Many relate to specific artists, including Sven Berlin, Cezanne, Stanhope and Elizabeth Forbes, Terry Frost, Patrick Heron, Peter Lanyon, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Scott Tuke and Alfred Wallis. Research on artistic movements is also included, including Post War Realism, Post Impressionism, Impressionism, Neo Romanticism and Art Nouveau along with folders on British painting 1600 - 1910, European Painting 1600 - 1800 and St Ives. |
