Title'An Essay on The Pub'
DescriptionA personal account of the author's custom of going to the public house 'Bird in Hand' at Sancreed. There is a detailed description of the best time to go and the journey there, including comments about the apple blossom at Nancothan Valley and the typical Cornish hedges. The author presents a detailed account of the pub itself and its landlord, remarking on his practice of taking visitors to local archaeological remains which were otherwise difficult to locate, and the honour conferred when asked to sign the visitor's book so saving a record of the experience for posterity.
